Today we end the project about plastic. I feel really happy because I think that all the groups have worked so good and we have obtained great results. Also, we have done a short video throwing a plastic bottle and we have posted it on Instagram. It has many views! Honestly, I love it!

About my group, I have to say that it was an authentic pleasure because work with them is always easy. We have coordinate ourselves and work cooperatively. I think we have work a lot and we have to be proud!

We have also talked about the exam and discuss about the method that Irene is going to use, probably an oral exam.

Finally, we have use an app called  socrative that we have used more times, and we have answered questions of the last unit we have seen. It was very interesting to know what we already know and check our knowledge. The bad thing is that you couldn't see the right answer, but Irene told us aloud.

We have continue with Ecosystems´unit and Irene sent us an interesting simulator to be in contact with ecosystems. In order to use it, the teacher gave us some steps to follow and the instructions about what we had to do.

For that, she explained us that we had to take into account some variables and then play with the different species in order to make them co-exist among a certain period of time.
At first, it was complicated but then I had fun doing it. Here I have some photos of the result that I got.

The aim of the activity was was to create an ecosystem in which all the species among the tropics levels survived.

Also, we have talked about new concepts: the flow of energy, flow of matter and the nitrogen carbon cycle and then we have seen a video in class to settle these concepts.

Today we have done a short test about plastic to end up with the unit.

Then, we have started a new one: Ecosystems. We have learnt some new words and concepts such as ecosystems, habitad, food chain ... Here I have some of them because I took notes:

  • Habitat: where an organism lives. Characterized by climate and weather, availability of food, water, other resources. It can be a small area or a large one.
  • Species: single type of organisms that can be interbreed and produce fertile offspring.
  • Population: individuals of a single species that occur together at a given place and time.
  • Community: all the populations living together in the same area.
  • Ecosystem: all the living things in a community and the physical and chemical factors that they interact with. Ecosystems are made up of the living creatures and the non-living thing that those creatures need within an area.
  • Biotic factors: light, oxygen, water, carbon, dioxide, soil, nitrogen, nutrients, living space, temperature range...
  • Energy moves through an ecosystem in one direction.
  • Nutrients cycle through different parts of the ecosystem and can enter or leave it.

And also, we focus on Photosynthesis and respiration.

Today we have talked about the documentary that we have seen on Netflix. I have to say that I saw it and it is really interesting and I enjoyed it.

So, we have done a debate between all the class using Acadly and I had fun. It is amazing to know different opinions about plastic. I defended my ideas and also I think that this documentary is good for children and they really like it. I can use it in my future lessons with them.

WE ARE BACK! In this class we have talked about the project and how it is going. I think that all the groups are doing a good work and, my group is working so hard. We have met these last weeks and we have done many publications on Instagram. Each week we focus our post on one specific topic about plastic.

Irene has also explain the rest of the unit and she asked us to watch a documentary on Netflix: "A plastic ocean".

1-04-20

In this lesson we have made (in groups) a brief presentation about our project to share our ideas with our mates.
Each group have shared really good ideas and I liked all of them.

My group has said our main ideas:

What we are going to do is to prepare the posts with a specific app, in which each post will have different photos. We will use the stories from instagram to announce this, so that people know that we have new posts, so that they could go and see them. Each post will be about a topic related to the use of plastic.

We have also seen on the questionnaire that people is not fully aware of how much time the plastic takes to decompose neither the consequences of its use. Plus, we are going to publish videos and a story with a countdown and a question. Then we will publish the answer on a post.
The images we are going to use, will be from a bank of images.
Our goals are to see if the people are aware of the consequences of the consumption of plastic and the impact on the environment. And to collect what people know about the plastic recycling.

13-05-20 LAST DAY

Today we had our last class of this subject. I have to say that when we started it, I didn´t know that I would enjoy a lot it. I have learn...
